LUKEWARM.

Alright ya’ll so Steve, http://followjesuschrist.tumblr.com/, asked me this, “So what is the first youtube video that comes to mind if I ask you about Francis Chan? Post a link and explain why that’s what came to mind :-)”

Simple. This short lukewarm video. He has an entire series, but I doubt many of you would even watch this. It’s all about pictures.. not many people who follow me have a burning desire for God, to know him, to listen to sermons, to meditate on the Word.. and nonetheless would read this post. To the people who want to drink from living water will most likely read this and I want to say thank you for not passing it because I didn’t post a beautiful picture to go with it. There isn’t wrong anything wrong with pictures, but do you guys just ever sit there and read a post because it might just give you a new perspective? Change your life? Something you have been anticipating!? Woop. Anyway, back to the question asked..

1. This is the first video that comes to my mind when I hear Francis Chan.

2. Now explaining why is the hard part.

Christians are in a slumber. They are okay with being half way in and half way out. Not completely committed to preaching the Gospel. Now, I am not pointing fingers. This video speaks to me a lot because I am in the same boat; I am lukewarm. Lately, there is no passion to seek God’s face. Lately, my ears and eyes of my spirit have become dull.. But the problem is, most Christians are like that.

Now in this video he says what choices lay before us: We can either walk out of a service, fixing our lives according to the passage preached or we can go out and be lukewarm and not care. That breaks my heart.

Lately, I have been stumbling. I asked for prayers. The importance is that I am so desperate to be completely changed to serve God, live for God, know God, get to heaven and meet God, the one that I know- wrapped up from my bible. The absolute desire of my heart is to say I have fought the good fight of faith. I mean, for the last five months, my spiritual life is just going down the tubes. I am losing more passion everyday, but does that mean I quit? No! For I stand on verses telling me to stay steadfast! For my mind says God isn’t real because of my sin. My dwelling in sin. My sin has separated me from my Lord, Jesus because He is holy.

But am I going to sit there and watch God pass me by? YOU BET NOT. I have dry bones. I am so deprived of His presence and by His grace, I am fighting this good fight of faith because His grace is good and He is worthy

So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. 1 Corinthians 15:58

When I am fighting for the Lord, it won’t be in vain and it isn’t useless. Endurance produces character and let me tell you, I will NOT be asleep when the Lord comes back.

In this video, Chan tells us, “quit your job, sell your house, do whatever it takes” until you find Him. Why? Because Jesus is worthy. When I am falling into sin, just watching it grow, oh, God has given us victory.

The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more. Romans 5:20.

Thank God, cause His grace is all that is sustaining me. Man, oh man, I am nothing apart from Jesus. He does everything in me and through me. This strength to fight this battle does not come from within.

I love this: What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. Romans 6:1-4.

Jesus died to give us a new life.. SO WHY STAND HERE SO DIRTY, full of wretched sin?

I am so sick of myself. I am like killing Jesus myself every time I sin, breaking my beloved’s heart, and I am not doing it anymore.

Quit your job, because being on fire for God is way more important.

Don’t eat, because eating the bread of life and drinking from His living waters is so much more important.

Sell your house, because Jesus is far much greater than any posession owned.

He is all we have.

“You can’t die lukewarm, can’t you see that?”

Yes, I see that. I want the truth. No matter how ugly it perceives to be: it’s life.

Give me Jesus.

Oh and prayers would be awesome. I need to filled all over again.

Let God Be God: "I don't have a boyfriend/girlfriend because Jesus is still writing my love story" ›

meghanphelisa:

Truth in love time:  false.  very false.  and misguided.  very misguided.

it’s so much more than that:

MAYBE: you don’t have a boyfriend or girlfriend because God is most glorified in your current single state.  you don’t have a girlfriend or boyfriend because there’s something God wants to teach you in this season.  maybe you don’t have a boyfriend or girlfriend because it’s clearly already at the forefront of your mind, and Jesus wants the idol factory to chill before you can be blessed with such a tedious responsibility (and keeping the idol factory in check is indeed very tedious).

Jesus is not still writing your love story.  He wrote it before time began.  He wrote it when the Garden of Eden was created and He walked with Adam and Eve.  He wrote it in not smiting them then and there, but by allowing an animal sacrifice to cover their sin.  He wrote it when He chose Abr(ah)am for no reason in particular, but promised a new chance.  He wrote it through Isaac and Jacob, and the lineage that carried on in the most wicked of days.  He wrote it when He called Israel His bride in Hosea and Isaiah 54 and many other places, beckoning His whoring bride to come home. He wrote it as He took on human flesh and  dwelt among us, bearing the weight of our disgusting, nasty sin.  Not because we deserved it, but ‘because of His great love that He had for us, He made us alive with the Messiah, even though we were dead in our transgressions, for it is by grace we have been saved!’ (ephesians 2).  He wrote it when He called your name, placed His Gospel in your path as a stumbling block, that you could choose to jump into His kingdom or spend your life dancing around…. He wrote it when/if you decided to come back into His family, and offered you the spirit of adoption.

MORE IMPORTANTLY: you don’t need a boyfriend or girlfriend.  You may be called to a life of singleness in order to serve God more fully.  But that’s ok, because the ultimate love story isn’t about you.  God isn’t about you and He isn’t about me.  He is an infinitely big God, and the entire universe declares His glory.  If you declare it better in singleness, praise God, and listen to Paul’s exhortation in 1 Corinthians 7.  You don’t have to worry about going through life uncompleted, because the only depravity in you is healed in communion with your Creator, the only one who can complete you and your ultimate love story.

Any story we consider greater is a devastating idol, and one that needs to be removed.  The point isn’t that you shouldn’t have a boyfriend or girlfriend, but the point is that having a boyfriend or girlfriend isn’t the point at all.  God is the point, the center, and everything.  IN everything we must ask: how is God most glorified, because in a life dedicated to Him, single, dating, or married, He asks no less.  Let Him romance you first and foremost, because only the Lover of your soul deserves the claim to your ultimate love story.

The ultimate romance: God’s love story with His unfaithful people

“Therefore I am now going to allure her;
    I will lead her into the wilderness
    and speak tenderly to her.
15 There I will give her back her vineyards,
    and will make the Valley of Achor[b]a door of hope.
There she will respond[c] as in the days of her youth,
    as in the day she came up out of Egypt.

16 “In that day,” declares the Lord,
    “you will call me ‘my husband’;
    you will no longer call me ‘my master.[d]
17 I will remove the names of the Baals from her lips;
    no longer will their names be invoked.
18 In that day I will make a covenant for them
    with the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky
    and the creatures that move along the ground.
Bow and sword and battle
    I will abolish from the land,
    so that all may lie down in safety.
19 I will betroth you to me forever;
    I will betroth you in[e] righteousness and justice,
    in[f] love and compassion.
20 I will betroth you in[g] faithfulness,
    and you will acknowledge the Lord.

21 “In that day I will respond,”
    declares the Lord—
“I will respond to the skies,
    and they will respond to the earth;
22 and the earth will respond to the grain,
    the new wine and the olive oil,
    and they will respond to Jezreel.[h]
23 I will plant her for myself in the land;
    I will show my love to the one I called ‘Not my loved one.[i] ’
I will say to those called ‘Not my people,[j]’ ‘You are my people’;
    and they will say, ‘You are my God.

-Hosea 2

Smh.

It doesn’t take a thousand years to figure out who your true friends are. The people who really care for you and the people who just slip pass by are easily distinguishable. I honestly won’t waste my time or efforts for people who don’t care for me. I certainly won’t give my love or my heart either. I’d rather spend time and energy for the people who are truly worth it.

No matter how much pain I feel, I’m going to keep worshiping You, Lord. Because I know I find my comfort, peace, joy, and healing when I uplift my hands to You. For a moment of praise, it’s like time in the world stops and I catch a glimpse of Your kingdom, just being with You. No matter what happens, You are still God. I know through this all, You’ll never leave my side. I thank You, that these troubles actually make my faith stronger in You! Hallelujah!
