The DEVIL does not care how much of the bible you can quote, but he is terrified by how much of the bible you can live.

Francis Chan began one of his sermons by throwing 2 one dollar bills into the congregation. Nobody tried to catch them and no one made an effort to pick them up off the ground. Francis went on to say that in poor countries their indifference towards a dollar bill would have been considered crazy!
Matthew 19:23 says, “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is very hard for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of Heaven” (NLT).
Don’t you see? We are the “rich person”! It will be difficult for us to enter heaven because we are blinded by riches here on earth. We have more than so many millions of people. We wouldn’t try to catch a dollar bill, it’s considered pocket change for us. Meanwhile, in another country, a dollar bill can mean clean water or food. We are the rich who Jesus speaks about in Matthew but because we don’t have millions we consider ourselves poor.
“Set your minds on things from above, not on things that are on earth.” Colossians 3:2 (NASB)

Blahhhh
Different bible versions can be a headache sometimes. x_x
God, I need DEVOTION.
I’ve been completely malnourished of Your word. I’m practically in famine. I don’t spend enough time with the Bible in a week, let alone daily. Now, I know. I need this everyday. Sure, it’s not like I leave my Bible to collect dust for a whole week. Every other day, I pick it up, to read a verse or two. But I’m missing the whole point. God, I speak to You in prayer. But I also need to spend time to hear what You have to tell me. Your spirit lives in me. But I haven’t been feeding it will enough. Your word is my spiritual food. I’m sorry for forgetting that. God open up my eyes. Let me come close to You. Let me seek Your face. Mold me to become what You want me to be. With everything that I do, may they be good fruits that please You. Help me to stay connected to Your vine, Jesus. It’s all for You, God. Help me to remember, that it’s not about my convenience. Let me step out of this comfort zone today. I’m living and breathing for YOU.
Matthew 4:4 “Jesus answered, ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
1 Peter 2:2 “Like babies that were just born, you should long for the pure milk of God’s word. It will help you grow up as believers.”
John 15: 5,7 “I am the vine. You are the branches. If anyone remains joined to me, and I to him, he will bear a lot of fruit. You can’t do anything without me. If you remain joined to me and my words remain in you, ask for anything you wish. And it will be given to you.”
I think I know why I’ve been feeling weak lately.
I haven’t been spending enough time with the Bible. *sigh* Now it makes sense. I need the word of God. I need God to speak to me. For a long time now, I’ve been babbling here and there. All my mere words are useless. All I need now, is the voice of my King. God, speak to me. You’re the only voice I need to hear tonight. <3 It’s time I open up my Bible.
The Bible is not a collection of stories, fables, myths, or merely human ideas about God. It is not a human book. Through the Holy Spirit, God revealed his person and plan to certain believers, who wrote down his message for his people. This process is known as inspiration. The writers wrote their own personal, historical, and cultural contexts. Although they used their own minds, talents, language, and style, they wrote what God wanted them to write. Scripture is completely trustworthy because God was in control of its writing. Its words are entirely authoritative for our faiths and lives. The Bible is “God-breathed.” Read it, and use its teachings to guide your conduct.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
